On the braiding of an Ann-category
A braided Ann-category \A is an Ann-category \A together with the
braiding such that (\A, \otimes, a, c, (I,l,r)) is a braided tensor
category, and is compatible with the distributivity constraints. The paper
shows the dependence of the left (or right) distributivity constraint on other
axioms. Hence, the paper shows the relation to the concepts of {\it
distributivity category} due to M. L. Laplaza and {\it ring-like category} due
to A. Frohlich and C.T.C Wall.

Sex differences in clinical characteristics, hospital management practices, and in-hospital outcomes in patients hospitalized in a vietnamese hospital with a first acute myocardial infarction
BACKGROUND: Cardiovascular disease is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in Vietnam. We conducted a pilot study of Hanoi residents hospitalized with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) at the Vietnam National Heart Institute in Hanoi. The objectives of this observational study were to examine sex differences in clinical characteristics, hospital management, in-hospital clinical complications, and mortality in patients hospitalized with an initial AMI.
METHODS: The study population consisted of 302 Hanoi residents hospitalized with a first AMI at the largest tertiary care medical center in Hanoi in 2010.
RESULTS: The average age of study patients was 66 years and one third were women. Women were older (70 vs. 64 years) and were more likely than men to have had hyperlipidemia previously diagnosed (10% vs. 2%). During hospitalization, women were less likely to have undergone percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) compared with men (57% vs. 74%), and women were more likely to have developed heart failure compared with men (19% vs. 10%). Women experienced higher in-hospital case-fatality rates (CFRs) than men (13% vs. 4%) and these differences were attenuated after adjustment for age and history of hyperlipidemia (OR: 2.64; 95% CI: 1.01, 6.89), and receipt of PCI during hospitalization (OR: 2.09; 95% CI: 0.77, 5.09).
CONCLUSIONS: Our pilot data suggest that among patients hospitalized with a first AMI in Hanoi, women experienced higher in-hospital CFRs than men. Full-scale surveillance of all Hanoi residents hospitalized with AMI at all Hanoi medical centers is needed to confirm these findings. More targeted and timely educational and treatment approaches for women appear warranted

Synthesis and evaluation of designed PKC modulators for enhanced cancer immunotherapy.
Bryostatin 1 is a marine natural product under investigation for HIV/AIDS eradication, the treatment of neurological disorders, and enhanced CAR T/NK cell immunotherapy. Despite its promising activity, bryostatin 1 is neither evolved nor optimized for the treatment of human disease. Here we report the design, synthesis, and biological evaluation of several close-in analogs of bryostatin 1. Using a function-oriented synthesis approach, we synthesize a series of bryostatin analogs designed to maintain affinity for bryostatin's target protein kinase C (PKC) while enabling exploration of their divergent biological functions. Our late-stage diversification strategy provides efficient access to a library of bryostatin analogs, which per our design retain affinity for PKC but exhibit variable PKC translocation kinetics. We further demonstrate that select analogs potently increase cell surface expression of CD22, a promising CAR T cell target for the treatment of leukemias, highlighting the clinical potential of bryostatin analogs for enhancing targeted immunotherapies
Theoretical modeling of the carbon dioxide injection into the porous medium saturated with methane and water taking into account the CO2 hydrate formation
In this work the mathematical model is constructed and the features of the injection of warm carbon dioxide (with the temperature higher than the initial reservoir temperature) into the porous reservoir initially saturated with methane gas and water are investigated. Self-similar solutions of the one-dimensional problem describing the distributions of the main parameters in the reservoir are constructed. The effect of the parameters of the injected carbon dioxide and the reservoir on the intensity of the CO2hydrate formation is analyzed
Synthesis and Photocatalytic Activity for Toluene Removal of CDs/TiO2 - Zeolite Y
Hydrothermally synthesized carbon nanodots (CDs) were impregnated on TiO2. The product (CDs/TiO2) was mechanically mixed with zeolite Y for application in toluene photocatalytic oxidation reaction under UV radiation. Material properties of the samples were investigated by different methods. Toluene vapor was chosen as a typical volatile organic compound to investigate the performance of CDs/TiO2 – zeolite Y photocatalyst when these technological parameters were changed: toluene concentration, gas flow rate, humidity and UV light intensity. In each reaction, only one parameter was changed and the remaining conditions were fixed. The toluene concentrations at the beginning and the end of each reaction were analyzed with the use of gas chromatography (GC). The results of different reaction conditions show the trends for toluene treatment of the CDs/TiO2 – zeolite Y catalyst, thereby providing specific explanations for these trends. The experiments also show that toluene removal is highest when the toluene concentration in the inlet gas is 314 ppmv, the flow rate is 3 L/h, the humidity is 60%, and the catalyst (CDs/TiO2 – zeolite Y composite with 70% zeolite in weight) is illuminated by 4 UV lamps. Persistence of the Omicron variant of SARS-CoV-2 in Australia: The impact of fluctuating social distancing
We modelled emergence and spread of the Omicron variant of SARS-CoV-2 in
Australia between December 2021 and June 2022. This pandemic stage exhibited a
diverse epidemiological profile with emergence of co-circulating sub-lineages
of Omicron, further complicated by differences in social distancing behaviour
which varied over time. Our study delineated distinct phases of the
Omicron-associated pandemic stage, and retrospectively quantified the adoption
of social distancing measures, fluctuating over different time periods in
response to the observable incidence dynamics. We also modelled the
corresponding disease burden, in terms of hospitalisations, intensive care unit
occupancy, and mortality. Supported by good agreement between simulated and
actual health data, our study revealed that the nonlinear dynamics observed in
the daily incidence and disease burden were determined not only by introduction
of sub-lineages of Omicron, but also by the fluctuating adoption of social
distancing measures. Our high-resolution model can be used in design and
